چکیده
It has been proposed that the discrepancy between the partially-conserved axialcurrent prediction and the nuclear shell-model calculations of the ratio CP/CA in the muon-capture reactions can be solved in the case of Si by introducing effective transition operators. Recently there has been experimental interest in measuring the needed angular correlations also in Ne. Inspired by this, we have performed a shellmodel analysis employing effective transition operators in the shell-model formalism for the transition Ne(0g.s.) + μ − → F(1; 1.057MeV) + νμ. Comparison of the calculated capture rates with existing data supports the use of effective transition operators. Based on our calculations, as soon as the experimental anisotropy data becomes available, the limits for the ratio CP/CA can be extracted.

The summed strength for transitions from the ground state of 12 C via the operators st, ℓt, rY ′ t, r[Y ′ s] λ t and r[Y ′ ℓ] λ t are calculated using the ∆N = 0 rotational model. If we choose the z component of the isospin operator t z , the above operators are relevant to electromagnetic transitions; if we choose t + they are relevant to weak transitions such as neutrino capture. In going fro...

We extend our previous studies of the neutrino-induced reactions on 12 C and muon capture to include partial occupation of nuclear subshells in the framework of the continuum random phase approximation. We find, in contrast to the work by Auerbach et al., that a partial occupation of the p 1/2 subshell reduces the inclusive cross sections only slightly. The extended model describes the muon cap...

Chiral symmetry serves as a guiding principle in low-energy hadron dynamics. An effective lagrangian, which explicitly breaks chiral symmetry via a small mass term, allows for a systematic method of calculating higher order corrections to tree-level results. This is applied to radiative muon capture on hydrogen, and to proton-proton π 0 production near threshold. Both processes pose theoretical...

We argue that nuclei are not transparent for fast projectile partons. Color transparency is effective for final state interactions in heavy particle production, though nuclear filtering of initial partons can reduce the cross sections. We show that short-ranged initial state interactions, which have been neglected so far, can be important in hadroproduction. With the present scenario of hadropr...
